Terms and conditions of use

1. About our terms
Wired In welcomes you to our recovery community at wiredin.org.uk. As with other websites, we have terms and conditions for using our community site. These terms and conditions are necessary in order to protect members of the community and the Wired In team who maintain this site, and to help everyone have as enjoyable and rewarding an experience as possible.

You must abide by these terms and conditions whenever you access wiredin.org.uk, on whatever device. By using this community, you are deemed to have accepted our conditions and terms of use.

Wired In may have to change these terms periodically and so you should check them regularly. You will be deemed to have accepted the updated or amended terms if you continue to use the site.

2. Use of wiredin.org.uk
In accessing this community, you are agreeing to use wiredin.org.uk only for lawful purposes, and in a way that does not infringe the rights of, restrict or inhibit anyone else’s use and enjoyment of wiredin.org.uk.

You should not harass or cause distress or inconvenience to any person, transmit obscene or offensive content, or disrupt the normal flow of communication within wiredin.org.uk.

3. Use of content on wiredin.org.uk

4. Contributions to wiredin.org.uk
You may want to submit contributions for publication on our site in the form of text, photographs, graphics, video or audio. If you submit contributions for publication on wiredin.org.uk, you do so on the following terms and conditions:

  • Publication of any contribution you submit to us will be at our sole discretion. We reserve the right to modify or adapt the contribution prior to publication, or to refuse publication.
  • You grant us a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to republish the contribution you submit to us in any format, including without limitation print and electronic format. The copyright to this material will remain with you, and you will be able to continue to use the material in any way including allowing others to use it.
  • You confirm that your submitted contribution is your own original work and that you own the copyright and any other relevant rights. You also confirm that you have the right to give Wired In permission to use the contribution in the way specified above, and that you have the consent of anyone who is identifiable in your contribution or the consent of their parent / guardian if they are under 16.
  • You guarantee that the material you submit is not obscene, offensive, defamatory of any person, and does not infringe any UK laws.
  • You agree not to submit or post material which is deliberately intended to upset other users of our site.
  • You acknowledge that any breach of these guarantees and agreements may cause us damage or loss, and you agree to indemnify us in full and permanently against any third party liabilities, claims, costs, loss or damage we incur as a result of publishing material you submit to us, including consequential losses.

If you do not want to grant Wired In the permission set out above on these terms, please do not submit to, or share your contribution with, wiredin.org.uk.

5. Registration
In order to participate in and contribute to Wired In community activities, you will be required to register with wiredin.org.uk. Any personal information supplied to Wired In as part of this registration process and/or any other interaction with Wired In will be collected, stored and used in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

By completing the initial registration form and by entering your email address and password, you will be deemed to have accepted the following terms and conditions:

  • All accounts must be registered with a valid personal email address that you access regularly so that emails can be sent to you.
  • Your email address and password are personal to you and may not be used by anyone else to access wiredin.org.uk.
  • You will not do anything that would assist anyone who is not a registered user to gain access to the Wired In registration controlled area.
  • You will not create additional registration accounts for the purpose of abusing the functionality of the site, or other community members.
  • You will not seek to pass yourself off as another community member.

If, for any reason, we believe that you have not complied with these conditions or requirements, we may, at our discretion, cancel your access to Wired In community activities immediately and without giving you any advance notice. We will email you at the address you have registered stating that the agreement has terminated.

6. Community rules
If an online community is to function well and prosper, and protect the rights of community members, it must have house rules.

In using the community, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions described above (in particular Section 4), as well as the Community Rules outlined below. In relation to your posts (blogs, comments) and private messages:

  • Your contributions should be polite, respectful and tasteful.
  • You should not engage in disruptive, offensive or abusive behaviour.
  • You should be constructive in your contributions, and not submit them with the intention of causing trouble.
  • Contributions that are harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, racially offensive or otherwise objectionable material are not acceptable.
  • Be patient, since our community members are of all ages and abilities.
  • Do not spam, that is submit the same or very similar contributions many times.
  • Please submit contributions that are relevant to the topic being discussed.
  • Do not advertise or promote.
  • Do not impersonate another person.
  • Do not use inappropriate (e.g. vulgar, offensive, etc) user names.
  • Do not misuse our complaints facility.

If you breach these rules, your posting may be removed or edited. You may receive an email from us about breaking house rules, which will include a warning that continuing to break the rules may result in action being taken against your account.

We may, at our discretion, cancel your access to Wired In community activities immediately and without giving you any advance notice. We will email you stating that the agreement has terminated.

Wired In reserves the right to delete any contribution, or take action against any registered account, at any time, for any reason.

If you are under 16, please get a parent’s or guardian’s permission before taking part in our community. Never reveal any personal information about yourself or anyone else, e.g. school, telephone number, your full name, home address or email address.

7. Disclaimer of Liability
The content provided by Wired In, including text, pictures, graphics, video or audio, is provided “AS IS” and on an “AS AVAILABLE” basis. We give no warranties of any kind concerning wiredin.org.uk or the material.

Although we strive to ensure that the information we provide on this site is correct, we cannot guarantee that it is always accurate, complete and up-to-date. To the extent permitted by law, we do not accept any responsibility for any statements in our content.

For the avoidance of confusion, we will not be liable for any loss caused as a result of your doing, or not doing, anything as a result of viewing, reading, or listening to the content, or any part of it, on wiredin.org.uk.
