Watched a very heart warming, funny and sad programme on BBC 4 last night. It was all about a man’s journey doing his step 8 and 9. If anyone is doing the steps this is a must see and a brilliant documentary for those who are not.
Hi Peter,
Have put in a link for people who want to watch it. That’s my viewing for tonight sorted!
hi michaela and peter tried to watch this in perth wa but not available to us-is there anyway we could get a copy onto wiredin as really interested in the steps, sounds like a great programme.
Just google BBC iplayer and it was on bbc4 @ 10pm 09/01/12
Watched it & felt disappointed that he left out the most important amend – to himself! Totally identified with the pre-recovery behaviour but had no idea how unkind & hurtful I had been to myself (as well as others). Many years ago on a Hazelden retreat Dan Anderson said to me “Peter until you can forgive yourself, you will never be able to forgive others.” How true! Took me a long time but well worth the pain. I found that there was really only one amend to make: “Stop the behaviour that caused all these problems/hurt in the first place!” Sounds easy? Took ages to identify each and then to learn how not to react to the feeling that came up. Saying sorry may work for some, but it did not work for me. Thus Bill W wrote “This step 7 sorts the boys!” Peter C.
