what about Australia, lol. i vote for david clark of wired in due to his ongoing will and determination to get wired in on the map in western Australia. he is converting to a aussie. The Uk’s recovery movement is partly due to wired in and the online community. go David.

Good thinking bat people! i like the idea loads… although i have a niggle which is very unlike me :-) I wonder when are thinking of who to nominate will we automatically pick the front people – the out spoken (nothing wrong with that) or will we remember the many people that make something happen. That for the last year many blogs have suggested just that, it takes one small thing to start off a domino (not the pizza) effect but what an impact it can have. Will we all be open enough to nominate one of the unknown, the quiet, the one that stands at the back, the do-er not the say-er? I look forward to celebrating the “winners” and hearing all about their achievements. I hope that this is the first of many years that we celebrate the achievements of organisations and individuals that make a contribution to Recovery within the UK. Good Luck all.

Tracy I agree,

I really do hope that people will nominate people that matter to them and to their recovery. In many ways this is why the RA and Wired In are working together so that we can, hopefully, get a wide range of different people.

So get nominating folks!

I sincerely hope there will be nominations from all sorts of people and for all sorts of organisations. This is not about the usual but about the outstanding. So, I do hope we have many nominations and that the decision will be as difficult as the person and organisation receiving the award will be inspiring. Get nominating!

I also think its really important that grass roots recovery champions are recognised rather than just the big names

This would be such a close thing for me to call as, over the years, I have met so many lovely people that have inspired recovery long before the NTA took it onboard. Many great organisations have been created by people with vision that help 1000’s of people throughout the UK every year whilst maintaining their own recovery through it all. I see people in my local community people ‘championing’ recovery doing great work with initiatives that don’t get the recognition they deserve as i’m sure we all do. I sincerely hope that the awards go to people that have and are making a difference rather than those that think they are! Hope I get invite to summit Michaela and is your wrist sorted.
